TLI is rapidly working to price themselves out of the game. They do not get virtualization at all. Full price for every partition no matter how much or little it does including full price annual maintenance.

But I understand that legacy IBM i applications can't be restricted to HTTP interfaces - that would require a significant migration effort.

Correct. My lonely one-man shop would require outside assistance for such a migration, and that again costs too much money.

You also indicated that Oracle's license transfer fees were a problem.
Someone should come up with an economical IBM i-based migration path for JDE World databases.

Actually, Oracle doesn't charge any transfer fee for JDE World, so they aren't the problem. It's Trusted Link EDI that's gouging us on that fee - $2200 if we buy our own new P05, or $8200 if we migrate to a hosted P20 box. I know those numbers sound small to the rest of you, but to my boss and this company, those amounts are not insignificant. Not to mention that I think it's just downright unethical that OpenText charges those amounts for essentially doing nothing.
