You'll have to download at least six DVD images (BASE plus the five
GROUPx_xx DVDs) and any individual software products that are not on the
standard media set.

Most of them will be zip files, so unzip them and use FTP to move them to
the IFS, ensuring BIN transfer.

You do not have to change the names of any of them, unless you want to burn
your own physical media, then most of the software won't deal with a UDF
extension. Change it to ISO.

When loading the image catalog the easy way is to get the IFS populated.
Then create your image catalog, I always call mine V7R3LPP. Then use the
API to fill the image catalog. (no typing those really long names into the
command line)

Call QVIOFIMG PARM('V7R3LPP' '*ALL' 0)

The zero at the end is a return code from the API.
The '*ALL' must be in upper case, don't know why but it only works that way.
Clearly substitute the name of your image catalog where I put mine.

Verification will not work until you go through option 5 of the GO LICPGM
menu and load and agree to all the software agreements.

Subject: V7R3 media - image catalogs

We will be doing some V7R1 to R3 upgrades.

Last we were doing this we had to download tons of .bin files from ESS using
http to a PC, truncate the file names, and then ftp them over to the IFS to
get them into an image catalog.

Has there been any change in the way ESS delivers V7R3 media to let us get
the three primary images with everything we need on it?

Thanks,

Jerry
