I am posting this message just to get it into the archive for future
reference by other.
We had an in house circuit trip late on Sunday afternoon that caused power
to our Power 8 (41A) server to do an unscheduled stop when the UPS power
was drained. The system came right back up this morning once the circuit
was reset, but during the IPL, it threw the following error code:
Message ID: CPPDD01
*Attention* A 7 megabyte platform dump is saved in MSD Manager as dump ID
1.
Cause . . . . . : The platform produced dump data. The dump data was copied
to the Main Storage Dump (MSD) Manager. Recovery . . . : Report the dump to
your hardware service provider.
This was accompanied with a CPPEA56 error advising that the hardware service provider be contacted.
It turns out that this is not all that unusual following a power loss and is not a serious issue. The system has been running fine, but I did have to call IBM to get reminded how to turn off the yellow alarm light on the front panel of the system.
