Jim, the host server used by oledb, odbc, and jt400 jdbc operates
different ports for unencrypted (as-database, ...) vs SSL encrypted
(as-database-s, ...) access so you can definitely leave your oledb and
odbc apps as they are.

Subject: can odbc be non ssl and jdbc ssl in same partition
Date: Mon, Oct 16, 2017 10:03 AM

Is it possible to set jdbc to ssl and keep existing oledb and odbc apps
non
ssl (while we test a new java app w/ssl)

ibm instructions on setting up ssl cert
[2]http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1010449

step 9 assigns certificate to all the applications (drda, host servers,
file server, etc) involved - no mention being able to differentiate.

We only have 1 development partition, and the 1 java project has no
scope
to deal with 15 years of various windows apps connecting.
