Actually most of my customers do it from one source just like you have.
Patching everyone takes about 60 seconds that way (simply replace the JAR
file from the new download)

The time lag is most likely the JAR file moving from the server to the PC
and then starting java. I've seen faster but it has gotten better with Java
8 and the new updates.

It's on a windows server. It's where our Documents drive gets mapped so
it's always backed up.

Do most install on their C drive?

Where does the ACS package live? If on the IFS, can you try another install
location?

I recently was issued a new laptop with ACS installed. When it comes to
emulators I'm just a user but I'm one of the first ACS installs here
and our help desk hasn't been much help yet.

We're on v7r3 and ACS 1.1.7.2

Slow startup - about 45 seconds for the first emulator to get to the login
screen. Much quicker with subsequent - as quick as 10 seconds. Is this
typical? What might be slowing it down so much?
