Hmm. Not sure whether Rob was talking about modifying the call in the CL program, REXX script, or whatever, or actually modifying the command defaults, but "CLEAR(*REPLACE)" would be potentially useful in a CL program that updates distribution save files, except that it's just as easy to have such a program do a CLRSAVF first (which is what we do).

And while CHECK(*NO) is somewhat useful if you're certain about what's in the drive, and it's either a transfer tape you use to get stuff in and out of a physically isolated box, or an obsolete backup tape you're recycling, it's definitely not something any sane person would ever want as a default.
