So I take you can't do
create table rob.jonparis as (
select *
from gdisys.erplxf.rco)
with data;

Basically what you are saying is,
even though there is a way to connect from two different systems at the
same time, you are unable to because of external factors such as security
reasons, remoteness of one site or the other, or some other such thing?
Or, did you not know that they've added database.schema.table naming?
