We originally used the SMTP services for email but, as Brad I'm sure will
attest, it was just too much work when things went adrift. Subsequently we
switched to using PHP for mail - which was a breeze to use and much more
reliable. Subsequently we switched to using G suite as the email server,
and simply changed the PHP scripts to use the google servers not the local
one. Have had no issues.

fast and is pretty easy to learn.
Another very interesting option is using Python.
There are SMTP and POP3 classes available for Python and it runs really
usual with SMTP and they can read it on IMAP folder "Sent" or similar.
I would imagine someone on Mike's team may even already know Python.

Mike,
if you are using IMAP with any email client, you just send your email as
to send the emails, including GMail with two factor authentication.
If you have issues with authentication you can use cURL (from 5770-OPS)
SMTP servers.
You can check my LinkedIn Post (sorry, in spanish) about using cURL with
and now with API calls. Now we have a business need to see if we can use

Subject: IBM i SMTP email service

We have used the SMTP server for years to send emails. First with SNDDST
this email service to let a user connect via POP/IMAP using an email client
like Outlook to send emails through the IBM i service. I can find lots of
references to using Domino to do this but we don't run Domino. Is something
like this possible?
list
Thanks
