And the ASMI interface also shows the progress codes nicely, used that more
than once remotely.

When using a non-partitioned Lan-console'ed machine I always recommend
cabling the HMC port and having access to the ASMI interface. It's the only
way to recover from a "RESTART *NO" situation without having to be next to
the machine.
