I think he's making a generalization. I'm sure we've all heard the conversation that goes like "Authority failure? Just grant *PUBLIC *ALL".

I for one exhausted all reasonable options before disabling SMB2, and I'm sure you did the same.

How does one know for sure, in advance? The MTU /still/ does not mention SMB2 issues vis a vis Windows File Explorer. I just checked it.

But the knee jerk reaction many people did was open their 7.3 machines
to all sorts of security holes by disabling SMB2 and going back to SMB1.
