One of my friends in the i space is an educator. They had a Power6 at their school. Was upgrading to i 7.2 and Power7. They called the Business partner and asked which sequence is best. Partner said: "Do the O/S upgrade first that way you'll be ready for the new system!" So they started into the upgrade and after the LIC rebooted things seemed, well, 'incomplete'. They had lost all disks except the CEC (those are SAS). So he calls me: "Any way to get those disks back?" "Nope" I said "Gone like a 59 Cadillac." Then I hear him holler across the room: "Bob! Better get the backup tapes!"

Remembering the nightmare we had with our Power 6...
We had expansion units up the wazoo in that which were REALLY old carry
overs from Power 5 days. Jim O saw it.
While the unit was theoretically capable of going to 7.2 none of the disk
drives and expansion units were. We moved to Power 8 instead.
