The DBGENCKEY value only protects the debug views ... it doesn't prevent anyone from actually debugging the program (within the scope of normal IBM i security).

Also, if the source for the program is available on the system you are debugging on, you can debug to your hearts content without a encryption key.

If you want to switch tot he listing view, it will ask for the encryption key.
