To add another piece of the puzzle, be aware that DVD is no longer supported
either. USB 3.0 is the substitute, or as we have been discussing in the
past using the network install from another IBM i or VIOS, or NIM server.
Migrating a partition usually is not hard, but this just adds a wrinkle or
two. Of course if everything is on a SAN, just unplug the fibre from one
box and plug it into the other box after configuring the partitions and
doing the zoning. That's really easy.

The POWER9 announcement presentations I have from IBM show the 5887 as
supported for migrations at GA2. No date for GA2 though. I looked at the
sales manual and the 5887 is NOT listed on the POWER9 servers, so I would
assume no current support on POWER9.

FYI, the 5887's have been withdrawn from marketing for all systems effective
3/31/18. The replacement is the ESLS, which requires min v7r2.

Do you have a link to that Power point?

I wonder if it was an issue with our 57CE?
Or any of our 19B1, 59DD, 59C2 disks?
