   IBM i supports printing directly to a .pdf streamfile in the IFS.  For
   example:
        OVRPRTF FILE(QSYSPRT) +
                DEVTYPE(*AFPDS)+
                TOSTMF('/home/Jerry/output.pdf') +
                WSCST(*PDF)
        NOTE: specify the correct printer file name ... depending on the
   program or command called, etc.
   Then run a command or call a program that prints something, and you
   should find a .pdf file in the IFS, rather than in an *OUTQ.
   Try that, and see if it is sufficient for your needs...
