If you are going to get a new HMC then I strongly recommend either going
with a Power system based HMC, or getting a virtual HMC. The x86 based
HMC's have all had their EOS dates announced.

It's not the version of IBMi which kills HMC. It's the firmware of your
system. You can check that with your existing HMC, or by DSPFMWSTS. If
you have an HMC then DSPFMWSTS had better show
Firmware update policy . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *HMC
Or you can really set yourself up for a serious hosing. Although it
doesn't seem to be such an issue (yet) with your particular P7.
