Actually LISTFMT doesn't have a darn thing to do with the issue.
In our case the vendor should not be assuming that people are using
NAMEFMT 0 and should just start out each session with NAMEFMT 0.

Your RFE sounds like you're looking for a listfmt ftp keyword to control
the list format much like the ftp keyword namefmt controls directory type.
