Does prompting work for you, or does still limit the actual length of the
command you can enter? It's been a while since I've done menus.
For URLs on a screen, I've used screens. You can make a pretty large
variable to hold the URL. You mentioned you didn't want to use a program,
but that may be your only choice unless you can use a URL shorten-er.
