Unfortunately I am stuck at 7.1 TR 10 - that's as far as I can take this 520.

I am going to push hard for the hosted solution over a used machine. Thanks for the info.

If you are running on an old Power5 520 but are capable of getting to i
7.2 or better I'm betting the cost of our iInTheCloud hosting will be much cheaper than a new machine. Likely we can be competitive with a used machine. Remember that even with a used machine you'll pay IBM to move your licenses to that machine. You'll also get less >performance and a higher maintenance bill than with a new machine.
Seriously give us chance if you like to compare the numbers.

That said I deal with Terry Lyne at Supreme Systems and have found him to be very fair, knows his stuff, and a reliable vendor.

Really need to upgrade our aging and soon to be unsupported System i 520, but the boss has balked at the price of new machines. And doesn't like the idea of the ongoing cost of the hosted options, although I would much prefer to go that route.

Who's a good used-server vendor?

Thanks
