For a quicker way to list objects use the *ALLSIMPLE as the "3rd parm":

<snip>
Find all programs and service programs in library MYLIB. Use *ALLSIMPLE to return the list quickly, omitting the detail information.

SELECT * FROM
TABLE(QSYS2.OBJECT_STATISTICS('MYLIB','PGM', '*ALLSIMPLE') ) AS X;
</snip>

With SQL and the OBJECT_STATISTICS User Defined Table Function in the QSYS2 Library you should get a list of all objects in a specified schema or even in all schemas.

Select * from Table(Object_Statistics('YOURSCHEMA', '*ALL')) x;

@Elehti: Yes, it can be done with SQL. IBM provided a lot of IBM i and Db2 Services (in the QSYS2 library) which return a lot of non-file specific information.

@Jon: sometimes, at the week end I do not work 24 hours 😊
... SYSTABLES provides only a list of database files.
