We read your answer. We understood your answer. We just didn't
understand the reason why section 3.5 said what it did and we needed to
use your solution. But apparently 3.5 is talking about row access control
and not column access control.

What your solution doesn't stop is this:
I read my boss' SSN. I see 'XXX-XX-1234'
I change it to '123-45-6789'. The update goes through.
But the solution may be perfectly fine for a bulk of the issues. Namely
some RPG program updates some columns and updates the row without using
the %FIELDS. So instead of clobbering the SSN it would ignore updating
that.
