There's a GZIP port you can download using YUM, and PIGZ (parallel Gzip)
somewhere in Perzl site.
But not sure... you need gzip-1st-then-transfer or gzip-on-the-fly ?

There is a distinct possibility that I will need to GZIP files (to be
passed to a web service).

I don't have an AS/400 port of GZIP, but I do have UZAEMON's port of
ZLIB. And I regularly use the bundled MiniZIP from that, to ZIP files.
But I have essentially no experience with GZIP.

Can I GZIP files with the ZLIB I have? In any event, it's going to most
likely be done from RPG.

Does anybody have any insights? Can anybody point me to any sample code?
