I think unplugging one power supply cord results in screaming power fans as the remaining power supplies run the entire system. Loudness depends on if it's a 1-of-2 or 2-of-3 arrangement!
How is the system running now? I'm assuming the failed UPS is in 'bypass' mode.
How good is the electrician? Can the new system be wired in and ready so the actual cutover will only take a few minutes?
