We have network equipment which does a good job of compression and
deduping.
For really large transfers, like restoring a production library on to
test, we use the "tape(s)" automatically duplicated between our VTL's to
restore from.

Some people like the SAVRSTOBJ or SAVRSTLIB commands. This requires some
SNA setup and you to load an optional part of IBM i, but it happens to be
a freebie.
