I'm wondering more of "what action do you plan"? I'm guessing that David
is not expecting to hear "perfectly normal, done all the time, deal with
it" but instead he is hoping that he can arise the masses to attack the
vendor with pitchforks and torches.

An alternative is to add a section to wiki.midrange.com warning people of
upgrades, etc that there may be this particular situation to deal with.

I'm sure there are some other alternatives.

The Serenity Prayer comes to mind...
