I'd hope that it, along with some of the other several HLP* keywords,
would make it unnecessary to use APIs - unless one wants some
specialized behavior.

I've used the DDS keywords with UIM help panels and, in many
cases, they work fine. But, I found situations where they did not work as
desired and I had to resort to API's in my RPG program behind the display
file. For example, getting UIM help panels to work with DDS subfiles is
problematic. Using the APIs solved all the problems I had with it.
