Based on Rob's last post, he thinks it will. Maybe the next TR? Just
guessing.

That would be totally awesome!!! (to borrow one of my teenage
grandchildren's phrases)

Is the virtual tape library really going to happen.
Something I was looking for.
Any details available.

I was about to have the same reaction as Larry when I read his post. We've
been putting individual tape devices out there since nearly the beginning,
but a library, now that would be news. Fabulous news.

Based on a conversation I had with folks while in Rochester last year, I was
lead to believe virtualizing a tape library would be a very significant
effort and not deemed worth the money to do it. I sadly agreed if it was
that big of a job. We moved on to Fibre tape where you can at least move
the drive back and forth as needed with vary on/off. That of course
required a Fibre Switch and some zoning. VIOS even eliminates the vary
on/off.

You can do Tape DRIVES through NWSD but thus far no LIBRARY devices that
way.

Are you suggesting a PTF to host libraries that way?

That would be nice for i Hosting i customers!!

And, supposedly there is a PTF coming to host the tape from the NWSD
