The model and what the customer is reporting are two different things. The
customer is reporting a feature code which along with the model identifies
several attributes of the system, such as the internal storage controller,
available disk slots, available cores to activate, etc. etc.

In this case the EP10 means: 9009-41A 4-core, typical 2.3 to 3.8 GHz (max)
POWER9 Processor (#EP10). In this case 41A is the model.

The customer claims, without being able to check the QMODEL value,
that it's an "EP10." I've never heard of QMODEL returning anything
other than exactly three characters.

QMODEL System model number. The number or letters
used to identify the model of the system. You
cannot change QMODEL, but the 4-character
value can be displayed or retrieved in
user-written programs. The system model
number system value is the same in each
partition on a system.
