After more than 45 years in IT, I had a couple extra adult beverages on Monday night, and have officially hung up my spurs and saddle.
All my former clients are current with IBM, and they have gotten their software vendors to see the light, so my work here is done.
This does not, however, mean that I’m “going gently into that good night”. My wife starts her new job as the CEO of a medical clinic organization on the coast of Oregon on January 28th. We are heading out on the 18th, and I’ll fly back to get the house sold and packed and moved.
We look forward to this new chapter, and I’ll be volunteering my time with the local Habitat for Humanity chapter. And fishing. Lots of fishing.

P.S. Lest you think we’re venturing into a nest of tree huggers and the like, the population of the area is mostly loggers, fishermen, and ranchers. I think we’ll be safe. 😊
