Thank you. That was the last missing piece to my puzzle...until I get started and find out I'm missing more pieces. 😊

To wipe the system, you really only need LIC loaded. Does not matter the version, back to V4 if you really want punishment...... As part of that process it will ask you if you want to install LIC. There are several options and the one you want is option 2, initialize the system. That will format all the drives and leave the system with only LIC on the load source drive.

It is supposed to be able to handle 7.3. If for some reason it does not, I will reinstall 7.1 on a completely clean machine.

Thanks for the call out.

I don't think an iSeries can run 7.3. However if you are using that as a generic term, have you ensured that your hardware can support 7.3? One good resource is <https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ssm1platformibmi> https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ssm1platformibmi

Keep in mind that even though a particular model may support a version of the hardware some hardware within may not. For example, we used to have a model supported on the release we wanted to go to however we would have had to replace all the disks and cards within that machine. We got a new model instead. Expand the Hardware and Software for 7.3 at the following:

I have a small stand-alone iSeries that is currently at 7.1. It was LPARed via SST and I think the LPARing was messed up because it has been dog slow ever since the LPAR was created. Since I don't need the LPAR, I have tried to remove the configuration but have been unsuccessful. I would like to just wipe the system clean and then load 7.3. One of my major holdups is how to get the .udf files that I downloaded onto DVDs so I can load them in the drive.

I did system admin stuff YEARS ago and I really don't remember anything.

Can someone provide instructions or links on how to do this?

Thanks in advance.
