Also consider this. Many of the replication HA systems, like Mimix and
Q-EDD, are trigger "aware". On the "target" system they disable (not
remove) the trigger on the file. This way the updates flow through but do
not fire off the trigger again. Part of the switch process involves
disabling and enabling the triggers. All done automatically. I do
switches every quarter, and have used both packages with no trigger
issues.
If one starts reading journal changes consider how this will work in a
switch.
