Thank you all. I have got some code working.

I have a new question relating to this. I have used Alan Campin's example
in Think400.

How do I monitor for a failure?
In my testing, if the remote side does not respond/connect the code was
hanging waiting for a response. I had to cancel the job.

How do I overcome the the waiting?
In other words, is there a timeout that can be set to return to my program?

Thank you.

This is pretty easy in Python.

So you are looking for a socket client? Who is writing or has written the
outside server? Are you being expected to write the outside socket
server?

As I read your request, you are looking for a socket client to talk to an
outside of the IBM i socket server.
