Ah - I had not connected with the idea that the PDF came from another SPLF - most of my experience with getting text out of PDFs is when there are code samples - so my statement should be qualified with "...might end up...".

I've found it to be fairly accurate if the original was a "printed" fixed format document Vern. If you do it with an MS Word produced invoice all bets are off - but spool file output pdfs went OK last I tried.

GhostScript running in PASE might have a driver to "print" to text - this ***might*** keep the alignment of characters - I don't know - just copying text out of a PDF ends up really different from the original.

Thanks Jon.

I realize it’s quite a bass-ackwards request.

Only way I know is to create a text file from the pdf then copy that to spool.

Have a customer that has generated a splf for us to look at. They sent it to us as a pdf.

We have a joblog analyzer tool that works only with splf‘ son the current system.

Is there a fairly simple way to move/convert that pdf to a new splf on our system, so that we may run the tool over it?
