If you're happy to use PC software for this, then you could also consider something like Greasemonkey (or equivalent).  I haven't done this in a while, but I used to use this a lot to automate the browser.  It works really nicely, and you code it all in JavaScript, so it's a familiar language that's really good at manipulating web pages.
