Just implemented a new Power 8 running IBM i 7.1 and trying to get our
support organisation to come in externally and get to the console.

Support is using IBM Access Client Solutions (Java based 5250 client) to
access the console of the Power 8.

I also installed the same client software and have no problems accessing the
console but I am behind the corporate firewall.

Our firewall rules have been set to allow external access with
bi-directional access for ports 2323, 3001 and 3002.

Our support organisation access support by using a Windows PC on their
network which then is connected to our external POP and then through the
firewall to the Power 8 server.

They startup the client and appear to connect to the Power 8 but there is no
data coming back to their screen. It is as if they are sending data to the
Power 8 but the return traffic is being blocked.

They have the run the diagnostics suggested on this page

https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1020642

java -jar acsbundle.jar /PLUGIN=ping /SYSTEM=<HMC or CONSOLE IP>
/PORTS=<port#>

and it come back with the message success!

I can't think what else to look for. I did ask the client support people to
check to see if their Windows PC had some internal firewall running that
might be blocking inbound traffic but that is a shot in the dark I think.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Larry
