Not a chance. You need to create the LUNS the add them to the system.

Our S914 came with a SAN containing 12 HDDs. We added 4 SSDs to the SAN, configured for Easy Tier. We saw a jump in disk performance, but for some reason IBMi didn't show an increase in overall DASD. Our business partner said that we need to add additional fiber cables between the server and the SAN to see the additional capacity. That seems like a simple enough thing to do, but I'm trying to wrap my head around how that works. Can anyone explain why more fiber cables are required in order to have the increased disk capacity?
