I agree the OS level may be a possibility.

There were some early issues with support of SMB2 which required MS to fix an issue they had, and while IBM was trying to argue their squirt gun was bigger than MS's firehose about this issue many people turned SMB2 off. Since then both IBM and MS have fixed their issues. So it may be a time to reevaluate and turn SMB2 back on. They discuss this issue at:
