I know about the standard out & I have used it myself. The vendor does the
RPG 'send one FTP cmd at a time' and does not always send error msgs to the
joblog.
Also, we have incoming FTP via the job QTCPWRK. These sometimes fail during
transmission. Joblogs don't help.
I need to be able to see the error message(s) that caused the failure. I.e.
Timeout, connection lost, etc.
Would exit points give more info?

FTP jobs have a "standard out" that can be captured in a .txt file.
Look in this stdout file to find out what is happening.
Hopefully, your external vendors have provided for stdout.

I have a few FTP jobs (in & outgoing) that fail intermittently.
The programs are from external vendors & cannot be changed.
Is there any way to find out the reason why? Exit points? Any
recommended FTP settings?
