Hi Bill

Has anyone mentioned DTAQ support for OUTQs? Once set up, an entry goes on the DTAQ any time a spooled file goes to RDY status - a program could use the Receive Data Queue (QRCVDTAQ) API and maybe put SPLFs on hold.

It is something you set on each OUTQ you want to watch.

There apparently is something that can be done by job using an environment variable. At least, that seems to be what the IBM site is saying.

I found a couple hits with Google.

Data queue support at 7.1 - https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/ssw_ibm_i_71/rzalu/rzaludataq.htm

An article on automating spooled file processing - http://archive.ibmsystemsmag.com/ibmi/administrator/systemsmanagement/automating-spool-file-processing/

Maybe something here can help you do this.

Regards
Vern

Hello all,

Thanks to Mark and Peter for the suggestion to use OVRSCOPE(*JOB). I tried that and it was a mixed bag. If I gave it an actual name for the FILE parameter, it worked. If I used *PRTF, it doesn't. Weird. Any thoughts?
