Well, educating others to this limitation is a noble endeavor. However, submitting a RFE to get this addressed would be great also.
Although I would think that 30+ years would be enough time to convert from S/36 file structures. Some might argue they are still useful today and cite examples like copying spool files to database files to get information. However I question that as I would think APIs or the SQL Services would be a better option. Decades ago I stopped using copying from spool files as supporting multiple versions of the OS using this technique was tough as IBM would shift around information, change UOM (like from MB to GB), etc.
