Hello all,
Question for the group....we had an issue on our production machine yesterday and here are the details....a batch job, in this case one of our MRP runs, started at around 12:15am. A user who had logged on the day before closed out of their session by clicking the "X" on the window and not signing off in an orderly fashion. This left their files open. The batch job went to LCKW status and sat there until around 7 pm last night, when I saw what was happening and ended the user's hanging job. The batch job then continued and finished normally.
In researching the parameters for lock waits on files, I saw that the file in question had a *NOMAX lock record wait parameter. In reading about that I saw that that actually translates to 32,767 seconds, which is about 9 hours. From when the job started to when I saw the problem was about 19 hours. Is there another factor in lock waits that literally could cause a true infinite wait time? Any info is truly appreciated. Thanks!
