Yes you have to hit the save button to have the changes take effect.

It might, or might not change the profile. Depends on how the partition is
set up to save it or not. That also tends to change based on the type of
change being made. I always go to the profile and check it to be sure.

On my Production LPAR, jobs taking more CPU % following IPL with V7R3 19311
CUME, TR7, 9009-42A VL940_027 firmware.
I'm not sure, but I think my desired shared processing units changed
following an IPL to 1.0.
Prior to the IPL, it may have been higher 1.0 (1.2 1.4, etc) This might
account for the job CPU% change.
Is there a way to tell what this setting was prior to the IPL.

Also, with the new HMC code, am I correct that when you DLPAR and change a
value, such as desired shared processing unit, to leave the screen, you must
hit "Save" which in turn updates the HMC Profile.
Is this correct, any DLPAR change forces a change of the profile.

Any thoughts from the group?
