Just did Rob. I've looked at it enough that I've decided that's the route
I want to take once I decide on the web service.

Regarding consuming web services, I've never enjoyed the feeling where I'm
at now which is: "I don't know what I don't know." :)

Make sense?

Assume it only returns a single row.
Look at the full example at the URL I had given you using that same
json_table function.

Forgive my ignorance because I don't even know enough about this stuff to
be dangerous, but is :

"Select * from json_table(systools.httpgetclob(:URL, ..."

designed for reading a table via cursor for ultimately putting into an
array? Got this impression from googling a thread from a couple of months
ago.

Asking because I'm looking to provide a single address at a time and
receive a single set of lat/long coordinates.

Thanks.

SQL has a "... from json_table(systools.httpgetclob(:URL, ..."
function. A fairly simple RPG program will get that info for you if you
find a web service you like. Then you're good from then on.

have use for geocoding ~300 addresses. The web service(s) I used

This is essentially a one-time need in bulk. In a normal month we'll
need
5 or 6 done and just do it by googling.

It would be great if SQL had something like this to embed in RPG
(excuse
if
the syntax is off):

Select Latitude, Longitude Into :lat, :long From
https://geocodeforfree
Where Address = :address

but that ain't gonna happen.

Thanks.
