Yes there are native antivirus solutions for IBM i just like there are for PC's. If a PC can have an antivirus determine if a write is putting malicious code, so can IBM i. IBM i has an exit point registered for this on WRKREGINF. The deal though is that you normally purchase a third party product that is keyed into this exit point to handle virus checking. Been there for YEARS.

However antivirus does not necessarily equal anti ransomware. I'll adopt the Patrik mentality here and wonder how they can determine between you doing the encryption and some nefarious individual doing the encryption. Asking the IBM i based antivirus vendors is probably a good start. Just because IDK how they can do it doesn't mean they can't.
