Hi Jim,

If you're doing a one time export and want to create a new IFS based git repository for copy off the IBMi, I am happy to provide a FREE short-term license code for my iForGit client.

The LIBSRCEXP command will have the export done in short order and committed in a local IFS repo.

Then you can move the repo somewhere else or just save the IFS dir somewhere else.

For anyone needing ongoing git IBMi Source repo management from RDI/PDM/SEU, feel free to take a look at iForGit as well.

Great way to check the source compliance box if you don't want to put money into a whole IBMi Source and Object Management solution.

And you don't have to throw away your source files or change edit/code/compile practices.

subject: archive source code from Power i to pc environment

We have replaced an i system (sorry) with a Power unix system (java). I need to archive many thousands of source members in a way that is searchable and easy to view.
We expect occasional verification of logic for years to come.
No $$ for a real product - but so far Notepad ++ seems best option, with text file names like Library_SourceType_TextDescription.txt
ABCLIB_RPGLE_Process_Provider_IRS_Matching_file.txt
This is mostly RPG400, CLP, DDS, CMD, Menus, etc, Some free ILE..
Exporting to text files is simple enough.
I would imagine others have been through this - any better options?
Need a "supported" tool, so some older open source are not being looked at.
This shop moving off Microsoft development suites.
Offline comments may be better.
