Hi Brian,
What about retrieving the Indentity in your instead of trigger and then
write it into a (SQL) Global Variable.
Within your program you then can access the global variable and get the
Indentity value.

Subject: Getting the identity of an inserted row
I am doing an insert through a view that has an instead of trigger that
updates the table. The view has a join so that is the reason for the
instead of trigger.
The problem I have now is finding the identity of the new row after the
insert into the view.
The usual methods (identity_val_local or select identity from final table)
do not work in this scenario.
What can I do to get this identity?
