Maybe have them travel on a different mode of transport than the tapes. This may require two couriers, or two trips.

Then again, in two weeks I am loading two Power systems, and their VTL, into the same truck for shipment. Hopefully the replication to a remote VTL from the saves of the night before is complete before I shut it down. The truck will also have a significant VMware server on it.
Last time we had such a shipment the trucker ripped the side of the rack completely off before he even loaded it on to the truck. I'm sure nothing can go wrong. :-)
