Let's say you want to restore a file. If you save object detail you can simply type in
WRKOBJBRM OBJ(ERPLXF/RCO)
And it will show you all the saves you have of that file. From that you can pick one to restore from. Try it now before you lose all detail. The WRKOBJBRM doesn't do the restore, it's the options you take after the list is displayed which does.
If you do not save object detail you have to dump the tapes.
