The ACS "Search for Key" was my next step, before IT came up with the external keyboard. If the opportunity presents itself, I'll see if I can get it done.

Typically IT does the config before sending the machine to the user.

Well, it sounds like for this particular case, it's moot because the user got their external keyboard.

But for the future (and our curiosity), I think it would be good to know whether the keys which are physically labeled "Ctrl" on a Mac keyboard actually send any signals that are read by ACS. And if so, what is that called in the ACS key mapper.

Some keys do not register in ACS at all. For example, I'm pretty sure when I press the physical key labeled Fn on my keyboard, ACS cannot detect it.
