Thinking this all through made me wonder: Why not just build a web based front end.

Remember: I'm doing Midrange as a hobby, with ancient soft- and hardware, not for profit, not for a living. As I stated before… to me, 5250 is *the* greatest strength of the Platform.

I don't bother going the Web way on my AS/400 150, because I could achieve webyness easily with Linux on Intel with a lot more performance, and it would also save me 100W of power for my 150. But that's not my goal.

forget trying to make IBM i do something that is not entirely natural to it.

Part of my affection to the platform stems from my curiosity what can be done with it aside from the well-known "business" processing. See Booth's remarks about how he mousifies 5250. And also, I've never before seen anyone using Figlet-Output in such an anti-geek environment as IBM Midrange. :-)
