Another issue with bank vaults-- they're not waterproof! I remember
a story about a bank that had been in a flood. They issued urgent
requests for all safe deposit customers to come and empty their boxes
so they could be cleaned and dried! Legally, they needed a court
order to open a box without the owner and the owner's key present.
I also remember a rather nasty prank to pull on a bank that has done
you wrong-- rent a box (please use an assumed name). Deposit in the
box one large fish, fresh from the deli, supermarket, or river.
Close the box. Leave. Never go back! The bank will also need a
court order to open the box!
